….Call for the Safe Release of Abducted School Children in Nigeria
Washington, D.C. | June 2026 – Members of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), Pentagun Deck, joined concerned Nigerians and supporters in a peaceful protest from the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., to the White House, calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to act urgently to rescue 45 teachers and school children abducted by terrorists in Oyo State. The demonstration was organized to draw international attention to the worsening insecurity affecting schools in Nigeria and to stand in solidarity with the families whose loved ones remain in captivity.
On May 15, 2026, terrorists attacked three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, kidnapping dozens of children and their teachers. Four weeks after the attack, the victims—including children between the ages of 2 and 16—were still being held, leaving families in anguish and communities living in fear.
Carrying placards and banners with messages demanding action, participants marched peacefully through the nation’s capital with a single message: the children must be brought home safely and without delay.
For Pentagun Deck, the march was more than a protest—it was a demonstration of our commitment to defending the rights of children and advocating for safe access to education. Every child deserves the opportunity to attend school without fear of violence, abduction, or terrorism.
The protest also highlighted a broader concern facing Nigeria, where repeated attacks on schools have disrupted the education of countless children and forced many families to choose between learning and safety. Education cannot flourish where insecurity persists, and no parent should have to fear sending a child to school.
As an organization committed to advocacy, education, and community service, Pentagun Deck believes that protecting children is a shared responsibility. We therefore call on the Federal Government of Nigeria and all relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate and safe release of the abducted children and teachers, while implementing stronger measures to safeguard schools and prevent future attacks.
Our participation in this march is consistent with our ongoing commitment to educational advocacy. From sponsoring children back into school and supporting school safety initiatives in our local community to speaking out for vulnerable children across the globe, we remain steadfast in our belief that every child deserves the right to learn in safety, dignity, and peace.
Until every child is safely reunited with their family, we will continue to lend our voices to the call for justice, accountability, and lasting security.
Because every child deserves to learn without fear!
