The items included toiletries like washing detergents, soaps, foodstuff, foot wears, clothing materials, notebooks and writing pens for the use of prisoners.
They also donated bail bonds, suspect statement forms, disinfectants and several items to ease police burden in struggling to cater for arrested suspects and inmates in their custody, particularly in Obudu council.
The organisation stated that such donations were one of the ways the association contributes its quota towards enhancing police work.
Zonal President of the association for Cross River North, Benue and Nasarawa states, Anthony Ede, who made the donation on behalf of the association, stated that the items were not a mockery of the two paramilitary organizations. Rather, he noted they were to enhance and facilitate the work of security agencies, and urged their leadership to judiciously use the items to benefit the inmates and suspects.
Ede maintained that Sea Dogs has also assigned its members who are legal practitioners to handle cases of suspects and inmates to ensure that every one of them receive justice. “We are also assigning lawyers within the zone to attend to cases of inmates awaiting trial and assist where necessary at no cost to ensure that those who are innocent are not punished unjustly,” its boss said.
