NAS Frigate Deck Highlights 30 years Potable Water issue in Cross-River Community, bridges gap

Members of the National Association of Seadogs - Frigate Deck (Calabar- Akpabuyo area), commissioned a water project on the 21st of January, 2021 at Ikot Offiong Ambai, in Akpabuyo L.G.A of Cross River State.

This project became necessary due to the fact that residents of this rural community had no access to potable water for about 30 years, according to reports.

The Second Mate of the Deck, Dr Amaku Asuquo in his remarks stated: we want the government to also reach out to the people to make life easier; it costs nothing to touch the life of our people because that is what really matters.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Dr Joseph Bassey lauded NAS, Pyrates Confraternity Frigate Deck for it’s kind gesture and magnanimity by reaching out to the people of Ikot Offiong Ambai through the provision of free potable water at no cost.

The village Head of Ikot Offiong Ambai, HRH Umo Okon Asikang said it has never happened before, stressing that the project was completely free. He stated: ”I really want to commend the leadership of the organization because this project will go a long way in ameliorating the suffering of my people. Water is life, so if anyone or organization decides to give it free, then they must be commended. It is no small achievement because a lot of families spend money to buy water here and all that is now over courtesy of their (NAS) magnanimity.

An indigene, Prince Itam said they have been without water for many years, but two years ago a private borehole was sunk and they bought water from there. He said with the Commissioning of the water project by NAS, life has become easier and better for the people living in the community; adding that the magnitude of their generosity as an organization is overwhelming.

In keeping with one of its tenets of existing for Humanistic Ideals, The National Association of Seadogs often embarks on such interventionists projects to highlight areas of government neglect and engage relevant authorities to ensure they provide the basic amenities for the people.
