10TH RALPH OPARA MEMORIAL LECTURE

 Brexit: The Implication for Sub Saharan Africa

 

Ralph Opara (1933-2002), was one of the seven founding members of the Pyrates Confraternity. In his chosen career as a broadcaster he rose to become one of the pioneers and well known radio broadcasters in Nigeria.
The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) has continued to promote the legacy of this national icon by organising lectures in his honour.

The maiden lecture took place in Owerri, Nigeria in 2004. The 2019 edition is the 10th in the series and is peculiar as being the first to be held outside Nigeria.

The 10th Ralph Opara Lecture is to hold on Friday, May 30th at 11AM, and the venue is The Copthorne Hotel, Clippers Quay, Salford Quays, Salford, Manchester, M50 3SN.

The topic for presentation and discussion is “Brexit: The Implication for Sub Saharan Africa”. The Keynote speaker is Mark T Jones - Consultant Futurist and an advisor on African Affairs, Leadership and Organisational Development. He has written several books and articles on Africa and also overseen humanitarian ventures in Africa.
Other speakers are billed to give presentations along with round table discussions scheduled for the day.
