The Abuja branch of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) held its 2017 Feast of Barracuda/Symposium on Saturday, 17 June 2017 at the main hall of Hotel Sandrilla, Jabi, Abuja, Nigeria.

The guest speaker, Prof. Itsay Sagay, discussed the theme, "Critical Review of the Anti-corruption War in Nigeria: Strategies, Challenges and Prospects."

 The panel break-out session was moderated by popular Nigerian blogger and social media expert, Mr. Japhet Omojuwa.

Comments, analysis and solutions were contributed by panelists from a broad spectrum of professional backgrounds and experiences such as legal, business, academia and development practitioners.

The symposium arrived at some fundamental decisions to move the fight against endemic corruption forward, which include but not limited to the following:

1. Familiarize law enforcement and Anti-corruption agencies with the amended criminal justice enforcement act;
2. Galvanise Nigerian citizens to effectively play the role of Watchdog of social contracts;
3. Ensure entrenchment of merit as criterion for accessing public office and patronage;
4. Enlighten citizens on the need to demand accountability from public office holders; and
5. Banish complacency and apathy amongst the electorate.

The full event communique will be available on www.nas-int.org shortly.
